Repeater Etiquette

Basic Guidelines:

  • Identify every 10 minutes and at end of QSO
  • Pause between transmissions to allow others to join
  • Keep transmissions brief
  • Use PL/CTCSS tones where required
  • Ask permission before testing
  • No music, broadcasting, or business communications
  • Yield to emergency traffic

Courteous Operation:

  • Give your callsign when joining a conversation
  • Thank other operators when signing off
  • Help new operators learn proper procedures
  • Report technical problems to repeater trustee
  • Don't interrupt ongoing conversations
